The other night when report came in that January Jones was cast as Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, I asked the obvious and rhetorical question, “so apparently Alice Eve did not get the part?” Eve had previously been linked to the role with enough certainty that everyone was including her as a known member of the ensemble cast. Then, this Jones news came out of nowhere. Well, ComicBookMovie.com has exclusive information from an anonymous source at Marvel via a volunteer contributor that Eve was signed on but requested to be let out of her contract because she wasn’t happy with the latest script changes.
If that’s not rumor enough for you, the site also claims Marvel is interested in her for a minor villain role in The Avengers. Because this unnamed character is said to be part of the Thor comics, The Feed logically presumes she’d play The Enchantress, which also would fit with Loki being that film’s main villain, and could maybe lead to a bigger part in Thor 2. It could all depend on just what comic book character she would prefer. ComicBookMovie.com also says she’s up for Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman in Fox’s Fantastic Four Reborn (the franchise reboot), in which she’d get to act alongside a reportedly 100% CGI version of The Thing.
Which superhero movie do you think she’s best to stick with? Feel free to suggest roles/films she’s not yet rumored for. (Source)
Things are looking a little brighter for Alice to star in the upcoming movie, “The Avengers.” Malin Akerman, who was also named as one of the actresses in the running for the part was unaware:
“I saw that [on the internet] and I copied and pasted it to my agent,” Åkerman told me last night at the Maui Film Festival screening of happythankyoupleasemore, an indie ensemble dramedy in which she plays a woman living with alopecia (yes, she shaved her eyebrows for the part). “He was like, ‘Where did you get this?’ He called the studio and it was just a made-up rumor unfortunately.”
Not that Åkerman wouldn’t welcome the idea of being considered for a role in the superhero flick, which is being directed by Joss Whedon. “Maybe it’ll influence the studio to go ahead and be like, ‘Hey, how about Malin Åkerman for the part?’” she laughed. “But for now, it’s just a rumor. I don’t know how it started.”
Take this with a HUGE pinch of salt. Avengersnews.com isn’t always the most reliable source of info at the moment. Anyway, they claim to have a source that says…
We now have received final word that Ms. Eve has signed a deal with the company this past week for an undisclosed character in an undisclosed film much like a deal signed earlier this year by Kevin Pennington. Both actors are in final negotiations on character choices. The final candidates for both actors are:
Alice Eve: Sharon Carter, Carol Danvers, Enchantress and Shanna.
Kevin Pennington: Daniel Rand, Rick Jones, Robert Reynolds and Ka-Zar.
They go on to say..
It’s likely that we could see them both (as 3 of the 4 characters) first in The Avengers, or in the Savage Land film Marvel is planning. Alice could also be used in Thor 2 as the Enchantress and Kevin could also be used as Daniel Rand in the Iron Fist film. Please do not take the above list as characters Marvel is looking to fill roles for in The Avengers.
Alice Eve has not been confirmed by any other source as even being in talks, let alone having signed anything. Pennington has at least some ties to the film. So MAYBE this is all legit. Confirmation once it’s announced. (Source)
Avengers movie rumors are in full swing, even thought production isn’t scheduled to begin until early 2011. Last week, AvengersNews.com reported another tidbit from their insider source: Actresses Alice Eve, Malin Akerman and Rachel Nichols were being looked at by Marvel Studios for an important role in their movie universe. The “female heroine role” has yet to be disclosed by the studio, but general speculation is leaning towards either Janet Van Dyne/The Wasp or S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel.
Today, AvengersNews released information that the two frontrunners for the part are Alice Eve (She’s Out of My Leaugue) and Malin Akerman (Watchmen). From their studio source:
“Marvel is searching for the perfect candidate for this particular role. They are important in their universe and whichever actress gets cast will potentially have the largest female role in the film.”
